I haven’t shared publicly yet, but we recently became a one-income family. My husband and I decided to homeschool our youngest daughter, which meant I left the field of law enforcement after 20 years to be a stay-at-home, homeschooling Mama. I’m loving this phase of our life! While we are still adjusting to routines and homeschooling, my youngest daughter is most interested in the homesteading life with me.. so I am looking to learn everything I can. We want to homestead together as both a homeschool life skill and need for our family.
When I came across the Traditional Skills Summit, I was so excited because not only do I have an opportunity to learn from knowledgeable homesteaders – it’s also affordable for our family… and you don’t need a huge homestead to participate.
Over the 5 days they’ll talk about the following topics:

- Day 2 – Raising Animals
- Day 3 – Food Preservation
- Day 4 – Traditional Cooking
- Day 5 – Bringing It Home
There are so many good sessions listed, but for where we are at currently I am most interested in “Start with the Garden You Have” and “Sourdough from Scratch”. These two sessions are going to help me cross off two items on my 101 in 1,001 Adventure list (#83 and #97)! I plan on watching all the sessions regardless, because we have plans to expand our little homestead in the future. We currently have two chickens and a few plants we’ve started.. with big goals of one day having more chickens, goats, miniature cows, quail and more. My husband would also love to have his own bee section (I’m allergic to bees but LOVE honey, so that will be all him).
Aside from the homestead aspects of this summit, I am looking forward to learning things that have a holistic approach for our family. We are learning to use homemade recipes & tinctures to help heal us or prevent symptoms, such as Elderberry Syrup and Fire Cider. I am looking forward to hearing what the bone broth and apothecary sessions could add for our family.
